The Caribbean Sea is a tropical sea in the Western Hemisphere, part of the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the Gulf of Mexico. A Mediterranean sea, it covers most of the Caribbean Plate and is bounded on the south by South America, on the west and south by Mexico and Central America, and on the north and east by the Antilles:
One of the most beautiful seas in the world touches the beaches of HOLBOX.
This brings its characteristic which is composing the idea of eco system.
In its surrounding waters you can find many different animal species tropical fish, mantas, dolphins, turtles and the magnificent Whale Shark, they choose the waters of HOLBOX for feeding from May to September. A special note of importance to the surrounding waters of this small island. Until the day of today the people of this small island of fishermen are still economically depended of what the sea gives to them.
